A Word from the Principal

What a Wonderful First Month!It is hard to believe we already have our first month of school behind us! As I walk around campus each day, I am reminded of what makes Canyon View such a special place. Our students have settled into their classrooms, new friendships are forming, routines are taking shape, and there is so much wonderful learning happening throughout our school.
One of the things I love most about Canyon View is that we care just as much about who our students are becoming as we do about what they are learning. Throughout this first month, our Coyotes have been putting our Coyote Code into action by showing respect, responsibility, citizenship, caring, fairness, and trustworthiness. Whether they are earning Coyote Kudos, working together toward Pawsitive Paws, or simply doing something kind for someone without expecting recognition, our students continue to show us what it means to be a Canyon View Coyote.
We are also excited to continue growing our focus on kindness this year through our partnership with Ben's Bells and our Kind Campus initiative. Soon, students will have the opportunity to recognize one another through our new Kind Kid of the Month program. I love that these nominations will come directly from our students—it gives them another opportunity to notice and celebrate the kindness they see all around them.
And there has certainly been plenty to celebrate this month! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our Canyon View families, our Coyote Cash fundraiser exceeded its goal! Our FFO also unveiled our brand-new Book Vending Machine, which has already created so much excitement among our students. I can't think of a better combination than celebrating great character and putting more books into the hands of our Coyotes!
Most of all, thank you to our families for helping us begin the year on such a positive note. Your support, encouragement, flexibility, and partnership make an incredible difference. We have a lot to look forward to this year, and after seeing all that our Coyotes have accomplished in just the first few weeks, I can't wait to see where this year takes us!

🚗 Parent Pick-Up & Drop-Off is Rolling Along!A HUGE thank you to our families for helping make parent pick-up and drop-off run so smoothly! We have gotten our afternoon dismissal down to about 15 minutes, and our parent walk-up students are heading out in just a little over 6 minutes! That means less time waiting—and less time for everyone standing outside in the heat!
Our students are doing a fantastic job walking quickly and quietly to parent pick-up and the buses, and our families have been wonderful about following our procedures.
We are also LOVING the new bright yellow mirror-hanging name placards! They make it so much easier for our staff to quickly see your child's name and keep that pick-up line moving. Thank you for remembering to hang yours from your mirror as you enter the line!
Thank you, Coyote families, for your patience, cooperation, and teamwork. It truly takes all of us working together to make dismissal safe, smooth, and speedy! 🐾

School Bus Safety & Behavior
We are asking for your support in helping us keep our school buses safe and respectful for all students and drivers.
Recently, we have seen an increase in unsafe behavior on some buses, including students getting out of their seats, moving or running in the aisle while the bus is in motion, climbing or hopping over seats, yelling, and other horseplay. These behaviors can be extremely distracting to the driver and create a safety concern for everyone on board.
Please take a few minutes to remind your student that riding the school bus is an extension of the school day and that appropriate behavior is expected at all times. Students should:
Remain seated properly while the bus is moving. Keep the aisle clear and stay out of the aisle unless entering or exiting the bus. Keep hands, feet, and belongings to themselves. Use an appropriate voice level so the driver can safely focus on the road. Follow the driver's directions the first time they are given. Treat the driver, other students, and the bus with respect.
Our drivers have an important responsibility: safely transporting students to and from school. When a driver has to repeatedly redirect unsafe behavior, it takes their attention away from the road. Your support at home makes a big difference.

🌟 Celebrating Mrs. Bogle!
We are incredibly excited to share that our very own Mrs. Amanda Bogle, Kindergarten Teacher, has been named one of only 12 finalists in Pima County for the 2026 E.L.E.V.A.T.E. Award!
Presented by Tucson Values Teachers and sponsored by Raytheon | An RTX Business, the E.L.E.V.A.T.E. Award recognizes exceptional educators who demonstrate Excellence, Leadership, Engagement, Vision, Achievement, Transformation, and Empowerment in their classrooms and communities.
Anyone who has had the opportunity to see Mrs. Bogle with her kindergarten students knows how deserving she is of this recognition. Her dedication to her students, passion for teaching, and ability to create a classroom where our youngest Coyotes feel loved, supported, and excited to learn make her such an important part of our Canyon View community.
Four educators will be selected from the 12 finalists and announced at the Stand Up 4 Teachers celebration on November 5. We will certainly be cheering loudly for Mrs. Bogle!

🐾 Fabulous FFO Happenings!What an incredible start to the year for our Canyon View FFO! We are so grateful for the support and involvement of our amazing families.
First, we have some BIG Coyote Cash news—we exceeded our fundraising goal! Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make this fundraiser such a success. Congratulations to our top three grade levels:
Kindergarten took 1st place, 5th grade came in 2nd, and 3rd grade finished in 3rd!
Way to go, Coyotes!
📚 Our Book Vending Machine is Officially Open!
We cannot thank our FFO enough for bringing this fantastic addition to Canyon View. Our students are already so excited about the opportunity to earn a trip to the Book Vending Machine and choose a brand-new book of their very own!
We are excited to announce our first three Book Vending Machine winners! Olivia Francart was selected through our Coyote Cash drawing, and Maddie Maar and Ben Moskowitz were selected from our Coyote Kudos drawing. We can't wait to see which books they choose!
🛼 Skate Country Night was AMAZING!
What a turnout! It was so much fun seeing so many Canyon View families come together for our first Skate Country Night of the year. There were lots of smiles, lots of skating, and plenty of Coyote spirit! Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so much fun.
❤️ Come Join Us at FFO!
We also had a wonderful turnout for our first FFO meeting! This year, we moved our meetings to 5:00 p.m. to make it easier for more families to participate, and we are providing childcare and snacks. We would love to see even more families join us at our next meeting on October 14 at 5:00 p.m. in the library.
There are so many wonderful things happening at Canyon View because of the partnership between our families, staff, and FFO. Thank you for helping make our school such a special place to learn, grow, and belong! 🐾
