A Word from the Principal

It’s hard to believe our first month of school has already flown by—it truly went by in a blink! I am so grateful for the energy, enthusiasm, and support that have made this such a strong start to the year. Already, we are seeing so much growth and “pawsitivity” as our students live out the Coyote Code. I’m especially proud of the Coyote Kudos and Pawsitive Paws being earned each day. Congratulations to Mrs. Lansey’s class, Ms. M. Clark’s class, and Mrs. T. Clark’s class, who have already earned at least five paws—what an accomplishment! 🐾
As we celebrate these successes, I also want to take a moment to highlight something equally important: attendance. Being at school every day matters. When students miss just two days a month, that can add up to over 18 days a year—nearly a full month of learning lost. Chronic absenteeism (missing more than 10% of the school year) can make it difficult for students to keep up academically, build strong friendships, and feel connected to their school community.
Every day at Canyon View is filled with meaningful learning, friendships, and experiences that help our Coyotes grow. When your child is here, they are not just keeping up—they are building confidence, developing lasting habits, and creating joyful memories.
Thank you for helping us reach our goal of improving attendance by at least 2% this year. Together, we can ensure that every child is present, engaged, and ready to thrive.
Let’s keep up the great momentum—this is going to be a wonderful year!

Parent Drop-off and Pick-up Reminders

A few quick reminders to help keep everyone safe and our line moving smoothly:

Please keep the crosswalk clear at all times. If the four spaces in front of the crosswalk are full, stop before the crosswalk so families can cross safely. We have many students and families using it each day, and we want to make sure no one gets hurt.
A big thank you to all families using their child’s name placard in the car window—it makes a huge difference when we are calling students. Please keep the placard visible until your child is safely in the car.

Thanks to your cooperation, we set a new record for the fastest pick-up time—just 16 minutes! Let’s keep it up!

Before School Entry to Campus
We’ve completed our first month of school, and it’s now time to give our precious little ones a hug and kiss at the gate before sending them off to class. Our students are doing an amazing job learning school routines, and they know exactly where to go. We have plenty of staff stationed around campus each morning to greet your children and assist if needed.

If you do need to come onto campus after 7:30 for an appointment or other business, please stop by the security office first. Mr. Sherman will be happy to sign you in and provide you with a visitor badge. We are always vigilant about knowing who is on campus and are committed to keeping everyone safe.
